Japan, Nagasaki, 19th c.76 x 35 x 27 cm
Sewing box with hinged lid on a curved stand, the interior with numerous compartments for sewing utensils. Under the box a textile insert that can be pulled out for storing fabrics. Black lacquer frame, inlaid decoration of mother-of-pearl with floral motifs, on the lid a pair of pheasants together with a flowering hydrangea.
